XSFGY
Gambit slipped around Cyclops and Storm in the doorway and headed towards the upper levels. Clearly, being around people would be a problem today. Also, there was a chance Wolverine would feel vengeful.
Luckily, the elevator to the surface floors was already open when he reached it--strange though, because there was no one inside. Stepping in, he looked around thoroughly and just figured it to be a coincidence. He pushed the button and waited for the doors to close, hoping they would before anyone else could make it to the elevator. He breathed a sigh of relief when the doors closed and the elevator lurched upward.

Five Points Correctional Facility, New York
THE NIGHT AFTER THE CALL...
Inside the maximum-security prison, several security measures were in place to prevent Avalanche from being able to use his powers. A single guard, unlucky enough to be there that night, decided to have a smoke, as none of the cameras were trained on him.
"Big mistake, mate" said Pyro, watching from the outside as he turned the lighter's flame into a raging inferno, burning the guard to a crisp and forming the flames into a dragon. As the fiery being crashed into the wall near Pyro, the steel melted down, creating an entrance for him. "This is too easy" he said, sending waves of flame to seal all exits, burning so hot that anything touching them would instantly melt down or simply sublimate.
Overheating the main locking mechanism holding Avalanche, he took down the door with a flame blast and walked inside, freeing his teammate. "Think you can take the heat? Or do I have to cool it down for ya?" said Pyro with a confident smile, drawing only a blank look from Avalanche. "Sheesh, tough crowd. Let's go have some fun" he said, running out of the prison in a literal blaze of glory, the facility crumbling down into a pile of smoldering debris thanks to their powers.

Last night Ferry Loch outside Muir Island Malcolm leaned on the lifeline on the bow of the ship, watching the water go by in the twilight. It felt good to be back in the homeland once again. After he had talked to Dr. McTaggert on the phone, he was more than happy to get out of the school he worked at. It was the beginning of Summer Break at NYU, and he planned to spend a great deal of time back home at the Estate, as well as help Dr. MacTaggert with her continuing research. He had met her once at a conference for Mutant Development, Biochemistry, and Psyche (MDBP) years back. That was all he knew about her. He had actually applied to work at the research facility for the summer and was accepted almost immediately. Feeling the cool breeze in his graying hair, he stopped cooling the air around him like he had been the past month back in the states and enjoyed the natural temperature. He watched a young man walk past him, and thought nothing of it. He was more occupied with thoughts of his next research project: a boy who could apparently change the world around him with his imagination like the bloody Teletubbies. Soon the Ferry pulled in to port, and he checked in to the lodging facilities. Dumping his bag on the floor, he flopped onto his cot and fell immediately to sleep.

Seeing as the tempers were starting to wind away, she fully released her control of the winds. She was just as happy she didn't need to use them again.
As Scott laid a hand on her shoulder, "Everyone seems out of sorts. I'm concerned about their morale." Which as her way of alerting him to a possible problem.
"I have some paperwork...mostly grading to do. If you need a hand fixing the Blackbird, I'd be willing to assist as I may."

Current day Cerebro/Briefing Room After a talk with Storm last night, Scott decided to have a talk with Gambit, who had seemed to be a little more withdrawn than usual. He had heard about the situation in the alien cell, and thought that maybe he might want to talk to someone about it. As he waited for Remy Gambit (who was, of course, late), a small light blinked in the control center's main panel. Looking at the main display, he quirked a brow and held down a button. "Professor? There's an encrypted message for you..." <tag Prof. X>

Xavier turned back from what he was doing, noting that the message had no originating tags. Meaning, not only that he didn't know where it was coming from, but he didn't know who it was.
Frowning, he set the system to trace the call nonetheless. He waited just a few seconds, then picked up the call.
"This is Xavier."

((Cyclops doesn't know his name is Remy.)) Gambit XSFGY Garage
Gambit leaned against the wall of the garage, brooding.
He was considering leaving. His meager belongings he'd already placed in the saddlebags on his motorcycle. He stood silently in the darkness, weighing his options.
Cyclops had offered to speak with him. In fact, he was supposed to be meeting him right now. But Gambit couldn't bring himself to do it. The fearless leader of the X-men was probably expecting him to open up. He didn't understand, Gambit couldn't do that.
Mystique Muir Island
A full night and day of reconnaissance had turned up everything Mystique needed to know and a great deal more. Her guise of skinny, freckled lab assistant had worked exceedingly well. The new lab assistant, Robbie, as she'd called herself, was unremarkable enough to be considered trustworthy and had been granted run of the island. This access had been useful, as it had revealed the parts and places on the island that Moira MacTaggert didn't intend her assistants to know about. Of course, Robbie's access didn't extend to those areas, as he was not supposed to be aware of him. However, things like that seldom deterred Mystique.
As it happened, Moira was hiding a great deal. She had become dangerous, even to those she claimed to protect. Mystique even suspected that the great Charles Xavier wasn't fully aware of Moira's secrets. If Mystique had her way, he wouldn't soon find out.
Robbie, the lab assistant checked his watch. Time to take the ferry back, Pyro and Avalanche would be arriving soon.

Rouge ran her hand through the white streaks in her hair. Her emotions were flickering between anger and resentment. Lately she had been acting strange, but the whole thing with the cells and Gambit was getting her a little overwhelmed. She growled under her breath as she moved through the grounds. She was thinking over the events, and trying to get anything out of her system that she hadn't gotten out last night in her room.

On the Phone Xavier's Office A familiar face materialized on the computer monitor. "Hello, old friend, said a smiling, rather cocky Erik Lehnsser. He was in civilian clothes, not his usual getup. He looked almost normal. He was smiling, and usually that wasn't a good sign. "How are the children?" There was something going on behind him in the background, but due to the low quality of the video feed, it was rather hard to make out. It could have been a parade, or perhaps a volcano. Knowing Magneto, it could have been both. Not letting Xavier respond to his question, he directed his attention to the volcano party in the background. "Here, Charles, I want you to see something... well, I'd call it breathtaking. Can you see?" he made a face, concentrating on his laptop computer's monitor. "No, I guess not." His hand covered the lens briefly, then into view came a small cafe, which was being overrun by a screaming rabble as Erik sat by with his back turned to what they were running from.
Avalanche was currently raising rocks out of the ground, making them fly in odd directions, and crumbling what appeared to be an important building as it burned itself to ashes. There was somebody else with him, too, but he was engulfed in what appeared to be a flame elemental. Magneto's face came back in to view. "You see, my dear boy, I was on vacation in Scotland, and happened to hear some screaming as I drank my tea. I thought it was too beautiful to not share with my dearest colleague," he said with a small smile. <tag Pyro, Xavier>[/b]

Mystique Muir Island Ferry
Robbie, the skinny, freckled lab assistant boarded the ferry without even a glance towards the ferryman. The ferryman was slightly put out, because in a very short period, he'd come to know Robbie as a friendly, polite young man. This new brooding Robbie was not to his liking at all.
Robbie moved to the bow of the ferry boat and watched as Muir Island's hazy outline on the horizon grew sharper. Mystique was furious with Pyro and Avalanche. Especially Pyro, he'd made a huge production about setting Avalanche free, so now probably every superhero with at least one working eye and a TV set was coming to stop them. If she was honest with herself, she couldn't expect more from them than that. Mutants or not, they were only petty criminals with petty ambitions.
She'd picked them up from the airport as discreetly as possible. How they'd managed to get on the plane without being collared was still a mystery. She really didn't care, as long as they caused enough havok and despair on the mainland to create a distraction.
Even with Pyro and Avalanche sowing destruction, Mystique realized that she had little time to get the serum and escape cleanly.

SCOTLAND ((said with a heavy accent))
"Ah, their screams over the crackle of the flames is like music to my ears" said Pyro as he walked around a small village in scotland, burning all who came in his way. "BURN!!! FEEL THE POWER OF PYRO!!!" he screamed, his flames immolating all around him. He looked as elegant as a dancer, moving among the flames almost effortlessly, curiously never getting burned. Flaming demons caught men in their grasp, swallowing them into their fiery bodies. Flaming hounds terrorized children, and huge phoenixes took women to the skies and ripped them apart, creating a rain of flame and blood with Pyro's crazed laughter in the background.
Avalanche was creating his own mayhem, shaking down houses and stopping any people from escaping. The ground shook and crumbled at his every whim, and he enjoyed this power. Being locked inside that prison had made him feel weak and restrained, and now that he was free, they were ALL going to pay.
