Trouble in Paradise? Logan thought to himself as he looked at Jean. She was glaring daggers at Scott's back. Now normally he wouldn't have missed a wink of sleep, in fact he would have gone to sleep smiling if it wasn't for the fact that Jean was physically upset by this. Now no matter what he felt like he needed to take some sort of corrective action, he too turned and took a leering glance at Scott's back before looking back to Jean with concern in his eyes and a cocked eyebrow.
No, I've been gone. Up north to Canada.... what new "residents?" I saw Emma on the way in... She didn't make mention of anything... What'd I miss?

Beast nodded and grinned. "Indeed, my frosty friend. I have information that we must discuss in private, once we find Warren and Kurt. Ladies," he said, turning to Jubilee and Kitty, "do you want me to call you a cab?"
Jubilee rolled her eyes and waved that idea away. "Puh-lease, and get stabbed?" She stifled a laugh, then, "ppffchhnk! As if anyone could stab Shadowcat," she said, pointing with her thumb. She raised her goggles and winked at Bobby. "So how's about it, Drakey? You know you want to help us try on clothes."

Why is everything happening at once today, can't I get a moment to finish one thing before someone barges in the damned room? Cyclops thought, rather loudly, his concentration broken by Emma popping her head in.
"Sure, sure, Emma, I'll give you a knock when I'm free." He hoped that would deter her, not wanting her to slip in and ask to join. Last thing Scott needed was another awkward moment where she and Jean stared daggers at each other.
"Jean's right, Logan," he said, sitting down with the others, "Mr. Jackson's run off to do god-knows-what, and the news is all over saying that a lot of mutants who were involved in Shangai are dangerous criminals."
Malcolm leaned in his seat next to Vivien. "Viv, they're nice people, an' I'm sure they dinna believe anythin' the news propaganda says aboot mutants." He smiled and regulated her body temperature; she was getting all hot and flustered, but her forehead and palms were clammy.

Sam Guthrie turned up the radio in his mother’s rusty station wagon, tapping his feet and humming along with the country music. Sam was smiling, leaning back in the front seat and enjoying the decent weather. It wasn’t quite as hot as Kentucky had been, but it was warm enough to wear shorts and a T-shirt, which he did. “Now ya know Ah’m havin’ a hard enough time drivin’ without you tryin’ to make your sister and Ah go deaf,” Lucinda Guthrie scolded, returning the volume to a more reasonable adjustment. Paige smirked in the back seat and then continued to gaze out the window of the backseat, pondering the new life ahead of her. “Well ya coulda let me drive, Ma,” Sam said wiggling his eyebrows. Lucinda shook her head and Sam shrugged. “It was worth a try…” Sam mumbled before returning to his attempt at humming the song. “Now ya both are sure ‘bout this, right?” Lucinda asked, glancing in her review mirror at her eldest daughter. Paige sighed and then leaned foreword, putting a reassuring hand on her mother’s shoulder. “Yes Mama, we’re sure. This Xavier fella is supposed to be the best, and we both know Sam needs all the help he can get,” Paige said teasingly. “Ah was doin’ just fine on my own, thank you very much!” Sam said, jumping to his own defense. “Ya put two holes in the barn with that thick skull of yours!” Paige argued back. Sam began to protest, but his mother cut him off. “A’right now, that’s enough outta the both of ya!” Lucinda yelled, ending the siblings’ dispute. After sending each of her children a stern glance, she went on. “Now if ya’ll expect me to trust ya on your own, you had better start actin’ with some manners. Ah don’t wanna hear no complaints about ya from Mr. Xavier, ya hear?” she asked harshly. “Yes Mama,” the kids said in unison. The car ride was relatively peaceful from that point on and it wasn’t long before the Guthries pulled up to the big iron gates of the Xavier Institute. Lucinda nervously pressed the call button as the siblings looked in awe at the tall iron gate before them. “Looks a bit like a prison doesn’ it?” Sam said with a gulp. Paige rolled her eyes. “I think it looks… safe,” she said after a moment of thought. “Uh, hello? Ah’m Mrs. Guthrie, Ah’m here to see Mr. Xavier,” Lucinda said nervously, waiting for some response or for the gates to open. <Tag someone in the mansion> (If this isn't alright, I can delete it )

Emma gave a small smile, "Yes, Scott, that will do." she said softly and turned on her heel, "I'll be in my classroom..." she added before walking away. She passed through the front entrance when a whistle caught her attention.
"Pardon, Ms. Frost, but there are some people at the gate, would you like to take care of them?" Maggot said as he approached her, gesturing towards the front gate. "Said something about Xavier expecting them..."
Emma nodded, "Go ahead and let them in, I will meet with them since everyone else is busy at the moment." Emma stood by the door as Maggot opened the gate for the visitors. If anything it was a welcomed distraction.

Rogue sat down looking around at the others, not totally sure if she should be here or not, regardless here she was. Her mind wandered to Remy, and whether he was okay or not. Something was really bothering him, always being the dark and twisty type. She wished for once he would be honest with her, something was haunting him and she desperately wanted to know what it was. You don't wanna know...it's gunna tear your heart out. She grimaced at this thought, her inner voice was an awfully annoying one, but a part of her couldn't help but agree.
She shook her head and looked at Scott, "So what we gunn do now?" she asked trying to distract herself.

“Ah don’t think this darn thing is workin!” Lucinda exclaimed, exasperated after waiting for some sort of reply. She was just about to turn around and take her children home when the big iron gates swung open.
“Kinda creepy,” Paige commented. Lucinda bit her lip and then drover her station wagon through the gates, nervously watching them close behind her. Sam and Paige were to busy gawking out their respective windows to take any notice of their mother’s worried look.
“It’s enormous!” Paige exclaimed, her eyes wide. Sam’s smile continued to grow and grow until it neared the point of pain. Lucinda parked the car near the marbled steps leading to the entrance to the mansion. Before she could say a word, both her children were out of the car trying to get better views of the grounds.
“Ma, Ah think this place is bigger ‘en the church, the school, and our house all smooshed together!” Sam said, holding a hand over his eyes to block the sun as he tried to see the roof.
“It’s so pretty Mama, it really is!” Paige said, hugging herself. Lucinda put an arm around each of her children, urging them towards the front door. Sam was two heads taller than her, but Paige was close to the same height. Lucinda couldn’t help but think of how big they had both gotten and her eyes watered up.
“Now ya’ll be on your best behavior, ya hear? Ah wanna make sure ya make a good impression on this Xavier fella. He sounded real nice on the phone, so don’t be fighten’ while we talk,” Lucinda chided.
“Yes Mama,” the kids said in unison, exasperated. A tall dark skinned boy around the kids’ age opened the door with a slight nod and a welcoming gesture.
“Thanks ya kindly,” Paige said and the boy nodded again.
Sam straightened up when his eyes fell on the woman inside the mansion who stood with a somewhat forced smile. He tried to stand tall and casually shrugged off his mother’s arm so that he would look older and more independent. The woman, dressed in a fancy white dress that clung to her like a second skin, stood tall in her high heels, smiling at the trio.
Paige rolled her eyes at her brothers reaction to the scantily clad woman. She tried to keep herself from passing judgment on the woman so soon, but it was difficult for her. Paige believed in modesty and considered herself to have high moral standings. She didn’t think the woman shared those morals…
“Howdy, Ah’m Lucinda Guthrie. Ah’m s’posed to meet a Mr. Xavier so Ah can enroll by children here,” Lucinda said in a slightly guarded voice. Paige could tell her mother shared her plight of attempting not to judge the woman before them and that made her smile.

Emma looked between the three rednecks giving them a serious gaze, finally her eyes stopped at Lucinda, "Pleasure, I am Emma Frost, a teacher here. It seems nobody bothered to contact you and I apologize for that, but Professor Xavier is away indefinitely. In his absence the school is being run by Scott Summers and his wife Jean Grey Summers. They are in a meeting right now, but I could show you around until he is ready to see you." She suggested, not really sure what to do in this situation. She tried to look as friendly as possible but it was hard when you are often perceived as an ice b*tch.

Kitty's face broke into a large smile. "Thank you, Bobby! You can find us in the common area." She looked over a Jubilee and gave her a knowing wink, the lashes never fail.

((Great posts guys!))
Jean chose a seat as far away from Scott as possible. "Logan, you'll remember Vivien and Dade but ....well there's Emma, she showed up after you left. Scott says the Professor invited her, but Scott was kind enough to personally bring her here, even though I understand she has quite a nice car of her own. You know, he's always such a gentleman..." Jean's sarcasm was nearly undetectable, nearly. "Oh, I almost forgot, there are supposed to be some new students, as well." Jean was still intentionally blocking Scott out, but looking over at Vivien, she suddenly felt a pang of guilt. She's seen enough of her mind to know that China had been traumatic and she looked miserable, right now. She put her anger aside temporarily, besides there was no reason to incite Logan. "...but we should probably go ahead and get to the matter at hand. Vivien, it seems obvious to me that the Chinese are using these accusations to divert attention from their own problems."
<tag: Logan, Scott, Rogue, Malcolm, Vivien>
Vivien frowned, "...but it seems like our government is buying this stuff. I mean, weren't they saying that anyone found harboring the fugitives would be considered a criminal, also?"
Jean smirked, "We can handle the government. Besides, around here, criminal is a relative term..." Jean glanced over at Rogue and Wolverine meaningfully.
<tag: Logan, Scott, Rogue, Malcolm>
Gambit stalked through the back door, slamming it behind him. This place was wearing on him. Scott was so holier-than-thou. A man oughta appreciate his wife, especially if they ain't separated.... "Mebbe it time for a visit...I got my own ta protect, not gonna spin my wheels round here."

“Yes Ma’am!” Sam said, enthusiastically accepting Miss Frost’s offer. Lucinda and Paige reluctantly followed him after giving each other a wary glance. Miss Frost lead the trio through a doorway to another room and Paige was astounded by the beautiful architecture.
“Oh my goodness, it’s gorgeous!” Paige whispered, partly to herself. Lucinda grimaced, still not thrilled that the man she spoke to hadn’t bothered to meet her. She was entrusting the care of her children to him and he didn’t have the decency to show up! Then there was this Frost woman. Lucinda didn’t like the way her son was ogling after her. Sam was a good boy. His mother didn’t want him being corrupted. Of course she was trusting Paige to help keep him in line. Paige may be the younger of the two, but she was much more morally grounded.
“So Miss Frost, what do ya teach here at mutie school anyway?” Sam asked with a wide smile, trying his best to be charming. His sister was staring at the ceiling and the walls and the furniture and the artwork and all that junk, but Sam was pretty sure he’d already found the most interesting thing in the whole mansion. Frost was a knockout. In fact she was so incredibly attractive that Sam failed to notice the blue skinned man hanging upside down from the ceiling with a book in his hand. Paige, being quite a bit more observant, noticed him with a gasp.
“Ah!” Paige squealed before quickly covering her mouth. The man looked like a demon, his tail swinging and his yellow eyes nearly glowing. But Paige knew better and knew that he was simply a mutant, like her. Her mother had raised Paige and her siblings to be understanding of the differences in other people and Paige was embarrassed by her initial reaction. The blue man dropped from the ceiling in front of her and her mother with ease, landing on his feet and standing with a smile.
“Hallo, mine name is Kurt Wagner. It is a pleasure to meet you,” Kurt said, holding out his three fingered hand. Paige smiled politely and took the man’s hand.
“Ah’m Paige Guthrie and this is my Mama, Lucinda,” Paige said, introducing herself and her mother. Lucinda’s smile was genuine as she took Kurt’s hand after Paige released it.
“It’s very nice to meet you as well,” she said warmly.

Emma looked down at Sam, quirking an eyebrow, enthusiastic fellow he was. "I teach the Basics of Business, interested in taking it?" she asked giving him a dazzling smile. Kurt popped out of nowhere startling the young ones, and Emma shot him an annoyed glance. Just as Kitty and Jubilee rounded the corner.
Kitty glared at Emma as Emma gave her a bored glance, that woman just made Kitty's blood boil. Then her gaze fell to Kurt, "Hey, Nightcrawler, Beast and Iceman are looking for you, something about a briefing for Shanghai." Then she looked to Sam and then Paige, and smiled, "Hi there, I am Kitty, Kitty Pryde, new students here?"
Kurt nodded at Kitty and smiled at Paige and Lucinda. "Zee you around!" he shouted as he disappeared to go find Beast and Bobby.

Scott scowled and raised his voice, lowering his psychic guard. "Look, Jean, I don't know what you're at these days, but you should check your facts. Xavier had me get her because her car was lost when her school burned down, and your bo--" he paused, choosing a better word, "Logan here was the one who suggested that I take her. We lead a team, Jean, and if we can't at least act civil in front of the others, how can we set a good example?
"Miss Ramsey, you are more than welcome to stay here, but I think it's best if you at least let us know if there's anyone in particular that might come after you so we can better guard ourselves." He didn't mind having criminals in the school, it was commonplace. He didn't care what she had done, it was her business to tell or not.
Ion stood up and walked over to the carafe of water, grabbing a glass and leaning on the wall. He drank, and the water was cool and refreshing, without him having to do anything about it for once. This made him slightly happy, after his day had been monkeywrenched.
Cyclops turned to Rogue. Well, she looked like she needed somthing to do, girl looked about as flustered as everyone else. "Rogue, right now Blue team is about to go to China to follow a lead on the Sentinel project. I want you to form Yellow team. Take anyone else who's interested, we need to find out what the US government actually believes, and more about this power restraint device." If anyone'd research the hell out of those devices, it would be Anna Marie.
"Wolverine, I want you to join Blue team, Beast said he wanted you to come along. Unless, Wolverine, you have something better to do."
Scott ran his fingers through his hair, standing up. "I..." sigh.
"I am going out for a drink, I've been going since 0500 this morning and need to relax."
Ion perked up and raised his glass of water in approval. "Not a bad idea. Mind if I go with ye?"
"Not tonight, Doc, I want some alone time. But thanks for asking." He remembered with a wince that he'd also said he'd meet with Emma. Crap. "I have to put on some more pedestrian clothes. Anyone else have anything to say before I go?"

Nightcrawler met up with Beast and Iceman as they were walking into the TV lounge to find Warren drinking an energy drink, sitting on the sofa. In the chair next to him was Mood Ring, bright pink as she stole glances at him. Sure, he was probably twice her age, but a girl can dream.
"Ah, Beast Energy Drink, a personal favorite," said Hank, grinning a fangy grin as he pointed to the blue sphinx on the can. "Their slogan claims to make one fly, don't you find it a bit ironic?" He patted his friend on the shoulder. "Come along, I have new data, and we must begin preparations to leave later in the week."

Jubilee offered a gloved hand to shake, chewing her gum loudly as she grinned at the new kids. "Hey, new kids! You guys got nicknames? Mine's Jubilee." She loved meeting new kids, they were always all wide-eyed like babies seeing a laser-light rock concert for the first time.

Paige smiled at the young girls before her. She guessed that Kitty and the Asian girl were about her age and that made her feel better about staying at he mansion. She had been worried that the others would be older like Sam and that she’d just seem like a tag-a-long to her older brother.
“Ah’m Paige, it sure is nice to meet ya,” Paige said, shaking Kitty’s hand and then the bubble blowing Asian’s. Paige could feel her mother’s eyes on her back, but she didn’t introduce her this time. After all, she didn’t want to seem like a mama’s girl.
Sam smiled and nodded at the two new girls. This place is full of pretty gals, he thought to himself before returning his full attention on Miss Frost.
“Well shucks Miss Frost, Ah’m not sure Ah would really understand all that business stuff,” he said scratching the back of his head while flexing his arm a bit. “Ah’m more of a hands on kinda fella, ya know?”
Paige watched Kitty and the other girl’s eyes fall on Sam and let out a silent breath of air. Back home, Paige’s friends had all developed crushes on her brother from time to time. Of course Sam would start to show his true colors and most of them would get over it, but Paige still found it rather annoying.
“That’s my brother Sam,” Paige said unenthusiastically.

Rogue nodded at Scott, "You got it, Summers." She looked around the room and directed her attention to Vivien. "Viv, whaddya say you and the ex hubby here join my team? You and me can talk ya know, ah have a bit of a past mahself." She asked her thumb jutting out in Malcolm's direction.

Kitty beamed, "Paige! Such a pretty name! So, what do you think of the X-Mansion so far? It's a great place to be, safe." Her eyes shifted over to the cute boy next to her and that excited her.
She reached out a hand, "Pleased to meet you, Sam. Say, we are heading to the mall her soon, you two want to come with?" she asked enthusiastically her eyes moving back to Paige.
Emma stood back with her arms crossed watching the giddy teenage exchange. She thought back to her high school days and cringed. Back then she was a meek, sensitive girl, who had a crush to end all crushes on her art teacher. She snapped out of her memory and directed her attention back to the young ones and Lucinda. "I am sure Scott and Jean are going to want to meet Sam and Paige before they take off on mall adventures."

"I am sure Scott and Jean are going to want to meet Sam and Paige before they take off on mall adventures,” Miss Frost insisted after Kitty’s offer. Sam nodded his head in eager agreement while Paige pouted her lower lip for just a second.
“Yes, Ah’d like to get them both settled in before ya’ll go off gallivantin’ around,” Lucinda said with a kind smile towards Kitty. “Where exactly would the children be sleeping Miss Frost? Ah was also wonderin’ about security and the likes. Will they have access to a phone in case they need me? And…” Lucinda was interrupted by her children.
“Mama, you’re embarrassin’ us!” Paige whispered with a nudge to her mother’s side.
“Ya gotta give her a minute to answer Ma,” Sam said with a chuckle, sending a nervous glance at Emma.
